President`s Report__
Winter 2012

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

As we close in on the end of a very tough year. I would like to share some of the positive things that happened this year and a look at next year’s work opportunities in each county that we cover in Local 4.

Morris County has some nice projects coming up. A planned 23 million dollar library at Farleigh Dickerson College in Madison, a new Shop Rite in Hanover; Novartis Pharmaceutical has started 3 new building and a new parking garage in East Hanover. This is a big concrete job.

Ron Green is doing well with concrete work in all areas. Bayer Aspirin will be moving their world head Quarters to Hanover this will be a 90million dollar job. A new Hotel is in the planning stages in Floram Park at the Rockefeller Property. Sussex, Huntertown, and Warren County do not have much work planned.

Although there is a chance Phillipsburg H.S may get funding for a 70 million dollars project. Hudson Co. has Goya foods looking to build a $600,000.00 square foot warehouse and is working with the council to sign a project Labor Agreement.

McGinley square and journal square were just approved by the city council and should start this spring. Bergen County Mall of America will be 7.5 million square ft. When done and should get going in the spring.

Possible work opportunities will be at the race track and a number of smaller projects are in the future.

Union county has just settled a 3 year agreement with Conoco Phillips Bayway Refinery, with the same terms as our last agreement. We are proud to help keep the Bayway refinery the only plant in NJ to be 100% union.

Wakefern Foods Corporate Head Quarters in Elizabeth and Legacy Square in Linden are some private sector work expected to start in spring 2012.

Essex County is starting to make headway after a rough start with their new administration. After many meeting with Mayor Booker, the building Trades Council helped Mayor Booker understand the great values of P.L.A.S. Some of these projects are the Peter Rodino Bldg. North Start prep, Newark Collegiate Academy, the farmers Market, Marriott Hotel, and Teachers Village, which is the biggest project with the renovation of an existing Bldg. And 6 new building, these are new dorms for teachers & students.

Passaic County has a 25 million dollar Cogent Plant scheduled for next year. However, not much other work is on the horizon in Passaic.

Thanks to all the hard work from our agents in their efforts to secure work opportunity for our members. In these challenging times that we live in.

In closing I would like to wish you and family a healthy and happy holiday season from all the staff.

In Solidarity,
Kenneth Simone
